The standard: résumé first
The principle on this ballot is straightforward: résumé first, with head-to-head results considered when teams are comparable. An overall record is part of the discussion, but the conversation should also examine what a team has accomplished and how the teams being compared stack up.
That gives us something more useful to discuss than whether a familiar name should automatically sit above another program. If you disagree with a placement, bring the comparison: which team should move, which team should take its place, and what supports that change?
Miami at No. 1—and an unbeaten pair behind Georgia
Miami owns the top spot at 8-0, with 7-1 Georgia second. Utah and UCLA are also unbeaten at 8-0, sitting third and fourth. That creates an obvious point of debate at the top: would you keep this order, or move one of those unbeaten teams ahead of Georgia?
The records are listed beside every team so readers can follow the same ballot shown in the video. They are the records supplied for this November 2 edition, rather than a rolling update to the rankings.
Indiana at No. 5: the Hoosier conversation
For HFT viewers, Indiana’s placement is the focal point. The 8-1 Hoosiers sit immediately behind UCLA and ahead of BYU and Notre Dame, both 7-1. That is the comparison to discuss: does No. 5 fit Indiana’s body of work, or would you place the Hoosiers elsewhere?

Your turn: challenge the ballot
Which team is too high, too low, or missing? Start with the one change you would make. Would Miami remain your No. 1? Does Indiana belong at No. 5? And if you add a team outside this list, who comes out?
Leave your argument in the comments. Give us the team, the placement and the football case behind it. That is where a rankings reveal turns into a worthwhile HFT conversation.
