Three Catches, Three Touchdowns: Becker Leads Indiana’s 55–0 Win Over Howard
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Charlie Becker caught three passes against Howard. Every one of them ended in the end zone.
Becker’s three touchdown catches and 81 receiving yards helped power Indiana to a 55–0 win Saturday. The Hoosiers led 41–0 at halftime, and their passing game made the most of limited opportunities: six of Indiana’s nine completions went for touchdowns.
Three catches, three scores
Becker’s stat line is striking because there was no wasted reception. He made three catches, scored three times and supplied the game’s clearest individual headline.
Josh Hoover threw four touchdown passes without an interception. Grant Wilson added two more touchdown throws on two completions. Nick Marsh caught two passes for 72 yards and a score, while Preston and Davion Chandler also found the end zone.
From a coach’s perspective, the takeaway is not just Becker’s finishing ability. Indiana created scoring chances for multiple receivers and converted them efficiently without leaning on a high-volume passing attack.
A running game that kept the offense balanced
Lee Beebe Jr. carried 16 times for 117 yards. Turbo Richard added 108 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Their production gave Indiana another way to control the game while the passing plays supplied the fireworks.

The defense completed the picture
Howard managed only 57 total yards and four first downs. Indiana recorded five sacks and 12 tackles for loss, giving the offense short paths back onto the field and leaving Howard little chance to answer.

Coach Griff’s takeaway
Indiana took care of the opponent in front of it. Becker made every catch count, two backs topped 100 rushing yards, and the defense gave up almost nothing.
Howard is not the measure of what the Hoosiers will face deeper into the season. Still, this was a complete performance in areas that travel: explosive plays, balance, third-down execution and defensive discipline. The challenge now is to bring that same standard when the resistance gets tougher.
